Rice University (www.rice.edu) is currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Grants and Contracts Specialist within the Office of Sponsored Research.
The Office of Sponsored Research is responsible for assisting faculty and other researchers in the preparation and submission of research proposals and the administration of grants and contracts which are awarded to the University. The primary responsibilities of the Grant and Contract Specialist within the office will be to negotiate subcontracts with other universities, contracts and other agreements with federal laboratories and other sources of federal funding, as well as contracts with industry.
The Grants and Contracts Specialist will work closely with the Rice Office of Technology Transfer, and is an excellent choice for the candidate who seeks to explore a career focused on Technology Transfer.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Sophisticated knowledge of NIH and/or NSF funding mechanisms.
* Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) clauses, as well as contract language and intellectual property.
* Excellent negotiation skills.
* 5 years experience + Master’s Degree in business, science, education or engineering related field.
* Certified Research Administrator preferred.
