The Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Industry Contracting directs the administrative process with pre-grant awards, monitors the preparation of funding proposals, negotiates contractual terms and conditions with funding agencies, reviews and signs contracts. This position is located within the central Office of Technology Transfer. The Assistant Director of Industry Contracting must have a thorough understanding of:

 Proposal preparation, processing and submission

 Regulatory compliance requirements and acceptability with University policy or agency guidelines

 Contractual negotiations and complexities

 Reporting and departmental budgeting

 Defining and directing workflow as part of the contract process

 Leadership, management, and best practices for employee growth and mentoring

 

Qualifications

 Bachelor’s degree required, with five required and eight or more years preferred of relevant professional management experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

 Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor and manage staff.

 Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and meet the needs of a wide range of faculty, staff and stakeholders including those within the institution, industry, and government. Must have the ability to articulate and explain University principles and practices to industry and government.

 Excellent analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail required.

 Exceptional interpersonal skills.

 Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively to find win-win solutions. Superb judgment, creativity, and common sense required.
