Be a Part of Case Western Reserve University’s Technology Transfer Future and Join Their Innovation Team

Case Western Reserve University’s technology transfer efforts extend well beyond campus innovations, and to continue these global outreach efforts the University is seeking two exceptional professionals to fill key positions on their technology transfer team.

The CWRU transfer technology office actively works with regional and national investment professionals, emerging and serial entrepreneurs, and regional “Innovation Network” that includes BioEnterprise, JumpStart, and NorTech, to commercially deploy CWRU intellectual assets.   This outreach has helped consistently rank CWRU in the top 10 biomedical engineering schools by US News and World Report.

Case Western Reserve is a leader among independent research universities in Cleveland’s culturally vibrant University Circle.  Nearly $400 million in external research awards helps fund the Case research enterprise each year, and the technology transfer office is expanding to help support this growing research and faculty entrepreneurship.  These new team members will work with faculty on both licensing and start up activities.

Along with a vision and passion for technology transfer, here are the qualifications desired:

  • Ability to create an entrepreneurial culture by fostering a positive approach toward commercialization by the members of the university’s life sciences and medical community

  • Transaction-oriented, with a proven record in working closely with faculty to bring promising life sciences technologies to markets

  • Proactively identify potential external licensing partners in industry, government, and the not-for-profit sectors

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills to work closely with faculty and industry to foster a positive image of the office and university

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline preferably in biochemistry or molecular biology. A Master’s degree or PhD is preferred

  • Five to seven years of life science technology transfer experience

Case Western Reserve University is one of the nation’s top universities and an independent, leading research institute located in Cleveland’s urban, culturally diverse University Circle.  The city of Cleveland has undergone a transformation during the past decade and enjoys cultural, sports and family oriented activities.   Lake Erie, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and world class museums add to the excitement of the vibrant University Circle, home to CWRU.
